Haabaa Golf Dictionary and Glossary of Golfing Terms

Ace - An alternative name for a hole in one.
Address - The address is the stance/position taken by a golfer when preparing to hit the ball.
Aggregate - Aggregate means a score achieved by two or more players playing as a team. It also means a score made by one golfer over more than one round of golf.
Air Shot - This is where a golfer means to play a shot though misses the ball entirely.
Albatross - "Double Eagle" was the former name for an Albatross. Albatross is a British term for a hole made in three strokes under par.
Alternate Ball - This is where player's on the same team take alternate shots.
Amateur - A golfer who plays golf without being paid
Approach Shot - A short shot played towards the putting green.
Apron - The fringe (area of short grass) surrounding the green, separating the green from the fairway.
Attack - Where a golfer plays with reason and forcefully.
Attend the Flag - To hold and remove the flag whilst the opponent putts.
Away - When more than one golfer is playing, this is the ball that is the furthest distance from the hole.
