| Hanging lie - Where a ball is on a downwards gradient. |
| Hazard - Features of a golf course which are designed to obstruct play. |
| Head - The end of the club, which makes contact with the golf ball. |
| Heel - The area of the club head attached to the shaft. |
| Hit - To play strike the ball. |
| Hole - A 4 1/4" (108 mm) circular container in the putting green. |
| Hole high - When a ball lands on the green level with the hole. |
| Hole in one - When a golfer takes one shot and the ball lands in the hole. Also known as an 'ace'. |
| Hole out - Where a golfer putts their ball into the hole. |
| Home pro - A professional golfer who is employed at a golf club to teach. |
| Honor - Where a golfer has the privilege of teeing off first on a hole. The privilege is given to the winner of the prior hole. |
| Hook - A golf shot that bends from right to left, or left to right in the case of a left-handed player. |
| Hosel - The piece of an iron club head, which the shaft is fixed. This part of the club head is hollow. |
| Hustler - A golfer with better skills who deliberately keeps a higher handicap to take advantage of less skilled players. This allows the hustler to win more bets. |
