Takeaway - The beginning of the backswing.
Tap in - A putt that is short in length.
Tee - A device on which the ball is placed for driving, the starting place for each hole.
Tee off - When a golfer takes a shot from a tee. The first shot on each hole.
Tee up - To place the ball on a tee.
Tee-shot - A shot taken from a tee.
Teeing ground - The area from which golfers start each hole.
Temporary green - A green used when the usual greens are being repaired or if the golf club choose to protect the permanent green.
Texas wedge - An alternate name for a putter when it is used off the green.
Thin - When a golfer hits the ball above it's centre.
Thread - When a golfer directs the ball through a tight opening.
Three ball - Three golfers playing their own ball, against each other.
Three-quarter shot - When a golfer plays a shot with a reduced swing.
Threesome - A group of three golfers.
Tiger tee - The tees used in a pro tournament.
Tight fairway - A fairway that is narrow.
Toe - The piece of the club head opposite to the heal.
Top - When a golfer strikes the ball above its centre.
Tour - A succession of tournaments for professional golfers.
Tournament - A prearranged competition for both amateurs and professionals.
track iron - An old-fashioned golf club that was used to hit balls from tracks.
Triple bogey - Three over par on a hole.
Trouble shot - When a golfer has to play a difficult shot. For example if the ball is behind trees, in a bunker or in the rough.
Turn - The middle of a golf course. The end of the front nine holes and the start of the back nine.
